Introduction
An airdrop is a beacon of hope for players in search of an easy loadout, tactical vehicles, or a quick score of drugs. Each airdrop has a 30% spawn chance on the Altis Island - anyone on the island has the potential to loot the contents of the crate.
In the past, the airdrop was spawned by staff members. Now, the airdrop automatically spawns based on the server's player population. The airdrops have a 30% spawn rate and can spawn at certain locations found all around the map. The airdrop can also be called in by civilians and APD Officers (PO+) with an active Olympus Plus]] subscription at a limit of one per month.
The Airdrop
The entire server will be notified when the airdrop is inbound with a message saying "The Altis National Armory has called in a supply drop full of rare gear."
A red circle will appear on the map where the airdrop is going to land. This circle marks the kill-on-sight zone around the landing area. No engagement is needed within this marked area. Additionally, the APD is allowed to enter the zone with a maximum of 5 officers for a single wave. The officers will only use lethal rounds. The APD may utilize 1 armored vehicle for the gear airdrop and 3 armored vehicles for the vehicle airdrop. APD deaths inside the airdrop will cost 75% of the officer's loadout on respawn assuming the officer is a Patrol Officer+. The APD may not return for a second wave.
Everyone connected to the server will be notified a second time when the airdrop is 5 minutes from landing saying "The Altis National Armory supply drop will be released in 5 minutes". When there is 1 minute left before the airdrop begins its descent, the server will receive another notification.
Once the airdrop has been released, it will spawn about 500 meters in the air and make a slow descent from there. These final few minutes are crucial to the different rebel parties fighting over control of the airdrop landing area. When the airdrop lands on the ground, colored smoke will emanate from it. Airdrop crates will be sealed upon landing and civilians can unseal the airdrop when they reach it using their scroll wheel menu.
Vehicle Airdrops will land locked with a disabled engine, an empty fuel tank, and no ammo. You will need to lockpick and repair it before taking off. The vehicle will have a tracking circle, similar to the Altis Pharmaceutical, after leaving the airdrop zone unit it is claimed. The vehicle can be claimed by taking it to the nearest chop shop. You will be notified 5 minutes before the airdrop vehicle despawns.
